ESIC Model Hospital, Bari Brahmana, Jammu is organizing Family Welfare Clinic under the supervision of the Specialist Obstetrics & Gynecology Dr. Payal Gupta & her team on every working Friday from 2:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M at room no 66, Department of Obstetrics &Gynecology under the able guidance of Medical Superintendent, Dr. Sunil Prabhakar Deshpande. The main objective of the programme is to reduce growth rate so as to stabilize the population at a level consistent with the needs and potential of national economy but also to promote reproductive health and reduce maternal, infant & child mortality and morbidity. Every patient coming to this clinic will be counseled for adopting family planning methods, a) Temporary e.g. IUCDs, Oral pills, condoms etc. b) Permanent e.g. Vasectomies, Tubectomies etc. Fixed Day Static Approach (FDS) is being promoted for both Temporary and Permanent methods in order to achieve twin objective of achieving population stabilization and in providing quality of services. To boost up Male Participation, Awareness regarding the Spacing Methods is being spread. It has been observed that younger eligible couples are opting for Family planning methods to save themselves against the risk of unwanted pregnancy. Pregnant women are being counseled for PPIUCD during the ante-natal check-ups.
